If you enjoy mountain biking, Cusco is surrounded by many mountains where you can do enduro.

All of these enduro routes are different; the path, the landscape, and the level of technique, but they have one thing in common, they are very fun.

Recommendations for mountain biking enduro in Cusco

  • You need to be acclimated, it is recommended to do mountain biking in your last days of vacation.
  • The starting altitude for enduro is from 4,000m. where it is difficult to breathe.
  • Have experience in cycling. Have an intermediate to advanced fitness level.

All of these enduro singletrail in Cusco are from expert to intermediate level, they have sections of climbs, tight curves, and very fun downhill.

Enduro Devil’s Balcony trail – Cusco

Also known as the Chakan route, here in this place there are some archaeological remains of the pre-Inca culture, surrounded by charming landscapes with a view to Cusco.

Located to the north of the city, about 40 minutes by vehicle to the starting point of this mountain biking route.

If you have good physical condition, you can climb up to the Diablo balcony on your bike and descend to the city of Cusco.

  • Enduro distance: 6 km.
  • Maximum altitude: 3,983m.
  • Minimum altitude: 3,300m.
  • Technical level: intermediate
  • Fitness level: advanced – pedal only 24 km.
  • Positive elevation gain: the total uphill stretch is 748m.
  • Duration of descent: it depends a lot on each cyclist, a professional cyclist can descend in 10 minutes and a regular cyclist in 30 to 40 minutes.

“El Brujo” Cusco The Wizard Enduro trail

One of the best enduro routes “El Brujo” is compared to the great Colorado route in the United States.

This incredible enduro mountain bike trail is located south of Cusco, just a 1-hour drive to the starting point.

The El Brujo is considered to be of an advanced technical level, with sections of verticals, rock gardens, curves, steps, and narrow lines.

  • Enduro distance: 7.76 km.
  • Maximum altitude: 4,212m.
  • Minimum altitude: 3,300m.
  • Technical level: advanced
  • Positive elevation gain: the total ascent is 18m.
  • Descent duration: varies for each cyclist, with a professional cyclist completing it in 18 minutes and an average cyclist in 40 to 1 hour.

Enduro Tipon – Cusco Amazing landscape

Tipon is an archaeological site and this route descends to the town of Tipon along an ancient horseshoe path from 4,376m. to 3,100m. gaining a negative of 1,000m.

This enduro mountain bike route to Tipon has sections of ascents, flat sections, and descents with paths with grass, stone stair trails, curves, rock gardens, and charming landscapes of the Andes of Cusco.

  • Downhill distance: 19km.
  • Maximum altitude: 4,376m.
  • Minimum altitude: 3,100m.
  • Technical level: advanced
  • Positive gradient: the total ascent is 280m.
  • Duration of the descent: it depends a lot on each cyclist, a professional cyclist does it in 1.5 hours and a normal rider takes 3 to 4 hours.

Enduro Mama Simona – Extreme adventure Cusco

Mama Simona is considered the most extreme mountain bike route that combines two categories; cross-country and enduro hard trail.

You can usually start from the city of Cusco and ascend on a wide asphalt road until you connect to the Inca horseshoe trail.

From here, the route is considered enduro, with sections of climbs, descents, tight turns, and sections where you have to push the bike.

There is also the option to take a vehicle to the horseshoe trail and only do the enduro cycling that ends in the town of Poroy, where you can also board the vehicle to return to Cusco.

  • Total distance of XC and enduro: 42km.
  • Maximum altitude: 4,256m.
  • Minimum altitude: 3,100m.
  • Technical skill and physical condition level: advanced
  • Positive elevation gain: the total uphill section is 1,280m.
  • Route duration: XC and enduro 5 to 6 hours
